These days students are least interested in online classes., to make the class interactive by commenting on a document as it is drafted online, dropping into a chat room or simply acknowledging students in live sessions, make the journey with them. This environment is very appropriate for the constructivist role of “the guide on the side.” Let them know that not only are they looking at you, you are looking at them.

ReplyDeleteIf there are no teachers, just imagine what the students will be.... Parents fail to teach them and even monitor and guide them.. Role of teachers is very important.

Experiential Learning, is all about learning experience. I mean creating a learning experience for children. Holding their hand take them to unfamiliar insight maybe through un/familiar experience but with your novel approach. Novelty works wonderfully though ordinary one. With just a walk along the beach and asking children to observe the flight of birds, a teacher could sow the seeds of curiosity and aspirations in the a child's mind who later became popular as the APJ Abdul Kalam, Missile Man of India. Curiosity to creativity, activity to achievement , insightfulness to innovations must be the mantra of the 21st century education. Once while taking rounds , I entered an unengaged classroom of std 3. It was an English period. We started playing a game of rhyming words for a while and I made a few very simple lines using those rhyming words , can call it a small funny poem. And I could see the sea change in the classroom. Every face was beaming with joy and astonishment. I ask them to give it a try. To my surprise, a couple of them instantly made some poems and many came running in the break to show their creativity, innovation, or achivement or a learning experience, whatever you name it. It's as wonderful as beholding beautiful butterflies coming out of pupa.
ReplyDeleteI think, what is needed now is to redefine the goals of education itself. The immediate goals can be curiosity, interest, sense of achievement, leading to creativity and innovations in the later stage.
Nice session. Thanks to organizing committee. Experimental learning in the true sense is innovative & a platform for children to show their innate talent. Education now is learning & being innovative

Is it possible that Experiential learning lesson plan could be made by a teacher alone? I know it's a collaborative work. But is it ok if a single teacher makes? Also question arises, that as it's interdisciplinary for all other subjects, is it mandatory to do it with a team of teachers? Is it that only Hub leader should forward the plan?
