Well Presented
DeleteThis is Anita Shah on behalf of Mahatma Gandhi International School.
DeleteThe project entails making a product that has a strong relevance to the child’s world. The purpose of addressing the socio-cultural diversity in the classroom with a view to enhance inclusion and acceptance adds value. The project has a very clearly defined outcome that follows as a consequence of the processes followed. Elaborate details have been furnished towards explaining ‘what’ skills and subject competencies the student will be learning.
The different processes are mapped in a sophisticated manner. Interdisciplinary connections such as ‘differentiating between types of markets’ show thoughtful attention to possible extensions in economics and history. The learning outcomes in different subjects are elaborately described. The planning connects almost every subject very creatively, focusing on skills as well as concepts. Skills learnt while preparing and selling the food could be listed explicitly too. There is an opportunity for joyful learning experiences as well as meaningful engagement for each and every student.
The above feedback is for the project "Making a sandwich", by Sherwood Convent School.

This is Anita Shah on behalf of team Mahatma Gandhi International School. This is feedback for the project ‘Test for starch and glucose’.
DeleteAs the title itself suggests, the project is a ‘topic’ that involves conducting an experiment in a laboratory. From the video it seems like a single session activity that is hands-on. When we clarify the purpose of 'why' we need to perform a glucose test, the context will be more relevant to the child’s context. The outcome that follows is a result of the ‘procedure’ followed, rather than experiential ‘processes’. Specific details have been furnished towards explaining ‘what’ the student will be learning and able to understand.
The learning outcome here is rather specific and narrow. An experiential project should include the larger picture of conceptual understanding and skill building. Links to different subjects could be included for a meaningful interdisciplinary unit. For example, students could build awareness of nutrients in their daily food in order to plan a healthy balanced diet for themselves. They could collect their own data, learn about food groups, meet a nutritionist, find recipes for healthy and tasty food items, and plan a weekly diet for themselves. This would provide opportunities for the children to bring in their own creativity, joy in ‘learning by doing’, as well as, build their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

This is Anita Shah on behalf of team Mahatma Gandhi International School for the project 'Covid- friend or foe?'
DeleteThis project meets the need of the hour, with a very strong relevance to the students’ current circumstances. Hence the purpose is very clear and significant for students. The title of this project is more of a ‘topic’, and it could be tweaked to make it more suitable, creating an “umbrella” for processes leading to the overall outcome.
For example, it could be “Making my own COVID experience Diary”, where students can look at how it is both ‘friend and foe’. Not only does it offer creativity, critical original thinking for every student, but it would also serve as an invaluable memento of such a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience.
Elaborate details have been furnished towards explaining ‘what’ the student will be learning and able to understand. The questions are inquiry based and relevant action -oriented processes are well planned. Interviewing neighbourhood chemists is a wonderful idea that not only instills confidence to approach strangers with a specific purpose, but also aids to collect data and use it meaningfully. The different processes are mapped in a sophisticated manner. The learning outcomes in different subjects are elaborately described. Experiential learning to create empathy is a very valuable goal that is being met through the role-play.

DeleteThe target age group could be identified so as to understand specific outcomes expected from the debate. Another innovative idea is to look at the role of media; it too could be linked to the debate.

The course module is well designed and well executed. Experiential learning is the best way to develop the analytical and critical thinking of the children. It makes learning enjoyable and self driven . The teacher is just a facilitator who guides the learning.

This is Anita Shah on behalf of team Mahatma Gandhi International School, giving feedback for the project "Planning a herbal garden ".
DeleteThis is a beautifully planned project with very strong relevance to the child’s environment as well as interests. The end goal is very clearly identified. The project has a very clearly defined outcome that follows as a result of the processes followed. Exploring excerpts from Ramayana to know about ‘Sanjeevani Booti’ enriches cultural understanding of Indian epics, and adds another dimension to this project.
Elaborate details have been furnished towards explaining ‘what’ actions the student will be doing to understand the subject competencies as well as to build significant life skills. Naming the garden, planning rows and columns to learn to use area and perimeter, are brilliant ideas that engage students and integrate experiential learning in the curriculum. The different action oriented processes are mapped in a sophisticated manner. The learning outcomes in different subjects are elaborately described with a specific focus on the given grade level.
