A mind map must include a verb in its name and have a definite outcome. It is a flowing chart with organic links to the different processes. The idea of food bank is good. The project can be ‘Constructing a Food Bank’ for a specific locality. The stages should be represented through a mind map.

ReplyDeleteIt's very innovative and infomative session to bring out child's knowledge .
ReplyDeleteINFORMATIVE SESSION
ReplyDeleteVery nice n informative
ReplyDeleteIt is good but not clearly seen and also how it is implemented in large scale even till network and communication problem
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent question. But the idea is to ensure that students work on the desired skillsets for each subject.
DeleteCan they observe, record, analyse processes at home?
Can they get oral histories at home and try to connect them to time periods?
Can they look at the Monthly expenditure on items and figure out daily and yearly expenditure for the same?
Can they learn a home language or teach someone in their vicinity the language they know? Can there be learning in this?
Can they map their home, their location on paper or on Google Maps?
There are network issues, but can some aspects of these be included in whatever communication is able to reach them?
Can some of these strategies and projects be transmitted on a wider scale for self-learning and self-evaluation to take place? Can we think of ways to make this happen?
There are definitely challenges, but perhaps we can trust human endeavour to overcome these as well. :)

A mind map must include a verb in its name and have a definite outcome. It is a flowing chart with organic links to the different processes. The idea of addressing waste management is in the child’s context and has the potential to draw links with most subject competencies but the processes are not clearly visible.

DeleteThe initiation of the project is on track. It is in the child’s context owning to pandemic situation. The title of the project could be changed to ‘Growing a Herbal garden’ from ‘Making a Herbal garden’ as the students will be growing one. The Processes of the mind map are flowing organically although two stages are over lapping. All the processes should be clear distinguished for clarity. Action and action plan two separate processes, Action will include everything that the st7duents will do. For example, digging a patch for sowing seeds or labeling the patches. Reflection is when the students reflect on the process and give one another feedback. The feedback can be verbal or written but is conducted after completing a process. The learning outcomes can be included in the mindmap.

Great work sir...as per rubric, objective achieved, well crafted and age appropriate as well.
DeleteThough the title of the project is action orient it doesn’t seem to show the purpose of the project clearly. Baking a strawberry cookie is an activity. The project could be a ‘Bake sale’. The project is in child’s context, as mostly all children like to eat cookies but why strawberry cookies will be important for the children to understand before the project is initiated. May be it could be related to a celebration. The stages of the project are clearly presented. They can be a part of the main mind map. The subject integration is good but at what stage the subject competencies will be addressed is not clear.

I have also done peer review for Shanti Asiatic School as per the rubric provide.
The document is very detailed and gives a clear idea of what the students will be learning however the connections are not clear as it is not represented using a mind map. Please create mind map using your document. The name of the project should have a verb. It is already mentioned in your document that the project is about organizing a Diwali Mela hence the name of the project can be ‘Organizing a Diwali Mela’. The project is in the child’s context as Diwali is approaching. This project gives the students the opportunity to learn many skills especially collaborating with peers and helps them connect to their culture.

The idea of the project is good and it is relevant to the child’s learning. It gives the students an opportunity to become aware of the environmental issues. However, it unclear as to how the students will conserve the endangered species. The different stages of the project do not have a definite outcome. The project could be ‘Making a brochure on the Endangered species of India’. The learning outcomes should be added to the mind map for clarity.

Plantation is a great idea but the scope of the project is too big, it can be narrowed down to an outcome. For example: ‘Organizing an harvesting festival’, the students learn about the plantation of the north east in order to organize the festival. The different stages of the project can remain the same with some additional changes in the sequences. The learning outcome (subject competencies) can be more specific.

A project must have a definite outcome along with a purpose. ‘Thinking a foody way’ does not tell us what the concrete outcome is. The project could be ‘Running a café on organic food’ or ‘Growing an Organic Vegetable garden’ or any of the ideas from the list of plan of action. The subject competencies will be a part of the mind map. The sequence of the different stages of the project could be shuffled for more clarity like effect of natural and man made disaster on food could come later.

The idea of stitching a dress/ garment is good. This kind of project offers a lot of hands on learning. However, the purpose of the project is unclear. The project could be ‘Stitching a t-shirt for sports day’. The different stages of the project are coherent and can remain the same. Some of the process will change with the name of the project. The learning outcomes would have added clarity.

The idea of organizing a rally to conserve water allows the child to give back to the society and it is within the boundaries of the child’s context. The name of the project must be clear and include the purpose too. For example: Organizing a rally to conserve water. The different stages of the mind map flow well but 2 stages are overlapping so they could be distinguished; ‘action’ and ‘action plan’. The learning outcomes should be added in the main mind map.

A mind map has an action-oriented title with definite outcomes. It has organic links leading to learning outcomes. The idea of learning through garden is wonderful; it brings the students closer to nature. Seed germination is a good activity, which can be a part of a bigger project such as ‘Growing a vegetable/fruit garden’. The subject competencies and skills can be added to the mind map.
